How Do You Charge a Bluetti?

Capable of reinvigorating both our electronics and the environment, Bluetti’s super-advanced power stations have been helping us live more eco-conscious lives for years now — thanks Bluetti!

With every release, the folks over at this forward-thinking company manage to stuff more mind-blowing features into their devices, which is obviously fantastic.

But, if you’re anything like me, you’ll get so wrapped up in all the fancy, high-tech features that you completely forget to check up on the basics, such as how you can recharge them when the battery reserve runs dry.

How Do You Charge a Bluetti

Not to worry, though, my fellow green tech devotees — in this guide, I’m going to run through all the various charging methods you can utilize to keep your eco generator juiced on your next jaunt into the wild.

    Bluetti Power Station Charging Methods

Charging Method # 1: AC Wall Outlet

The most popular way of recharging Bluetti power stations is to plug them into an AC wall outlet, just as you would your phone or laptop.

Which Bluetti Power Stations Support AC Charging?

Literally every Bluetti power supply can be charged via an AC wall outlet, so go wild, but make sure never to use any outlet rated for more than 600 watts.

    What You’ll Need

    • AC Adapter

    How It’s Done

    • Step 1. Identify the correct port on the power station — the I/O interfaces of Bluetti generators are normally clearly labeled.
    • Step 2. Plug the output plug of the AC adapter into your Bluetti.
    • Step 3. Plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet.
    • Step 4. Once you’re all plugged in, flick the switch on the wall outlet, and voilà, you’re off!

Charging Method # 2: Dual AC Wall Outlets

If you want to kick your AC charging into hyper-speed, you’ll be happy to hear that you can double up on your power bricks and plug them both into your Bluetti power station.

Which Bluetti Power Stations Support Dual AC Charging?

    What You’ll Need

    How It’s Done

Step 1. The XT90 to DC7909 adapter fits on the end of the solar charging cable that came with your Bluettie power station, allowing you to plug it into your second power brick.

Step 2. Once that’s set up, just plug one power brick into the power station’s AC port as normal, then hook the second one up to the solar port.

Charging Method # 3: Solar Panels

No eco-generator would be truly green if it didn’t have the facilities to harness the power of the sun for some totally free off-grid energy, would it?

Which Bluetti Power Stations Support Solar Charging?

All Bluetti power stations support solar charging, so as long as you’ve got some panels, you can soak up some of that sweet, sweet sun and power your devices for free.

    What You’ll Need

    How It’s Done

    • Step 1. To get the ball rolling on this charging method, simply set up your solar panels in direct sunlight.
    • Step 2. Connect them to the corresponding port on your power station with the included solar cable, and you’re sorted!

Do bear in mind, though, that if you have a particularly powerful roof panel array with an output far exceeding the capacity of your Bluetti power station, you may have to invest in a PV voltage step down module.

Charging Method # 4: AC Wall Outlet & Solar Panels

As we’ve already discussed both AC and solar charging, you should know where I’m going with this one.

Which Bluetti Power Stations Support AC & Solar Charging?

    What You’ll Need

    How It’s Done

    • Step 1. Set up your solar array and plug it into the solar charging port of your power station.
    • Step 2. Use your AC adapter to link the AC port to a wall outlet.
    • Step 3. Set the DC input source to “PV” in your Bluetti’s settings.

    Charging Method # 5: Car

You can also charge Bluetti power stations using your car, so you always have a backup for your backup when you’re on the road.

Which Bluetti Power Stations Support Car Charging?

    What You’ll Need

    How It’s Done

    • Step 1. Connect the cigarette lighter charging cable up with the aviation cable.
    • Step 2.  Plug the other end of the cigarette lighter charging cable into the 12V port in your car.
    • Step 3. Plug the end of the aviation cable into the corresponding port in your Bluetti power station.
    • Step 4. Set DC input source in device settings to “Others”.

Charging Method # 6: Lead Acid Battery

Now, I know we’re living in the lithium age right now, but if you still have some lead acid batteries lying about, you can use them to top off your Bluetti before you head out on your next adventure.

Which Bluetti Power Stations Support Lead Acid Battery Charging?

    What You’ll Need

    How It’s Done

    • Step 1. Distinguish between positive and negative poles of the sealed lead battery. A positive pole is usually indicated by red casing.
    • Step 2. Fit the red clamp on the positive pole and the black clamp on the negative pole.
    • Step 3. Insert the other end of the cable into the corresponding port in your Bluetti power station.
    • Step 4. Set the charging method to “Others” in your Bluetti’s settings menu.

Charging Method # 7: Lead Acid Battery & AC Outlet

Remember the solar/AC outlet charging method we discussed earlier? Well, that’s not the only hybrid approach to charging Bluetti power stations. One model also supports a battery/AC outlet combo.

    What You’ll Need

    How It’s Done

    • Step 1. Connect the charging clamps to the corresponding poles of the lead acid battery.
    • Step 2. Plug the other end of the clamp cable into your Bluetti.
    • Step 3. Hook your Bluetti up to an AC outlet via the AC adapter.
    • Step 4. In the settings menu of your Bluetti, select the DC Input Source “Others”.

    Charging Method # 8: Generator

If you’ve got a traditional generator with some spare fuel in the reservoir that will otherwise stagnate, why not use the last of it to top up your Bluetti?

Which Bluetti Power Stations Support Generator Charging?

    What You’ll Need

    How It’s Done

    • Step 1. Connect the input plug of the generator charging cable into your generator.
    • Step 2. Connect the output plug of the generator charging cable into your Bluetti.
    • Step 3. Turn on your Bluetti to commence charging. Once it’s fully juiced, the adapter will automatically cut the power to prevent overcharge, but you will need to shut your generator down manually.

Charging Method # 9: Generator & Solar Panels

For my final hybrid charging hint, we’ll be combining solar panels with a fuel generator for super speedy top-ups in time-sensitive situations.
